While most drums come into being by way of gluing together plies of wood, stave snares are literally built like a barrel to bellow out more tone and projection than a standard snare could possibly muster. Crafted by aligning beveled solid wood blocks (or "staves"), these drums use a fraction of the glue and don't suffer from the bending and stress of their plied counterparts. The result is not only a more sensitive snare with richer tone on tap, but a more regal presentation of the wood's natural beauty that sets the drum apart in any setup.
