Aluminum Neck Guitars & Basses

Guitars have used steel truss rods in their necks for most of the past seventy years. Some guitar makers took things a step further, building entire necks out of aluminum to maximize stability and strength. With early attempts from Wandre and Ovation, the movement really resonates with classic models from Travis Bean and Kramer. Today the demand for necks that can withstand the ultra-thick gauge strings preferred for doom and stoner rock has given rise to a new batch of aluminum-necked models, such as those by the Electrical Guitar Company.
