About this listing
The D-50 is Guild’s rosewood dreadnought: solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, built to move a lot of air and stay clear when you dig in. And it does just that! It’s the kind of guitar that suits hard strumming, flatpicking, and singer-songwriter work without getting mushy. This particular guitar has been used as intended, so it has many dings and plenty of natural patina, plus heavy finish wear on the back of the neck. However, it’s also likely been refretted, because the frets are like new and slightly taller than would have been typical for the original perid. It plays very well with low action. A strap button is installed on the neck heel.Sound-wise it’s an absolute cannon: really loud, with a full, solid tone and plenty of headroom. Guild dreadnoughts from this era are closely linked with players like Richie Havens (most famously with his D-40), and the same big, direct Guild voice is part of what makes the D-50 so appealing.Includes original hard case in medium condition.SPECIFICATIONSModel: Guild D-50Year: 1977Body shape: DreadnoughtTop: Solid spruceBack and sides: Solid rosewoodBracing: X bracedNeck: MahoganyFingerboard: EbonyBridge: EbonyScale length: 651 mmNut width: typically approx. 41–43 mmFingerboard radius: commonly around 356 mmFrets: 20Inlays: Dot position markersBinding: White body bindingPickguard: BlackFinish: Natural (NT)Electronics: None
