1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cut – Cherry Red (Faded) #325252
There are guitars that look old, and then there are guitars that have actually lived. This 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cut belongs firmly in the second category. Lightweight, wildly resonant, beautifully worn-in and carrying all the honest signs of a guitar that has spent decades doing exactly what it was built to do: making noise in the very best possible way.
Finished in its original Cherry Red, now naturally faded into that deep dark red hue collectors chase endlessly, this Junior has the kind of patina you simply cannot fake convincingly. The lacquer checking across the body is gorgeous throughout, with fine vintage craquelé that immediately tells the right story the moment you pick it up.
And then there’s the sound.
The original P-90 absolutely barks. Open, raw, articulate and gloriously aggressive when pushed, yet surprisingly dynamic and woody when backed off. Plugged into a good valve amp, this is the definition of late-’50s Gibson honesty — no unnecessary extras, just wood, wire and attitude. The guitar is incredibly lively acoustically as well, with a fast attack and a dry resonance that makes it hard to put down. At just the right weight, it feels effortless on a strap and dangerously addictive in the hands.
As expected from a proper working vintage instrument of this age, the guitar has received a professional refret somewhere during its lifetime, making it an absolute joy to play today. The original wraparound bridge was replaced because the old unit had bowed over time — something commonly seen on vintage Juniors that were actually used rather than hidden under beds for sixty years. Everything else that truly matters remains original: pickup, pots, pickguard and tuners are all factory correct.
At Max Guitar, we’ve handled enough vintage Gibson instruments to know when one has “the thing”. This Junior has it in spades. There’s a reason serious players and collectors keep gravitating towards great double-cut Juniors: they deliver an immediacy and character that many far more expensive vintage guitars simply cannot match. Honest, direct and endlessly musical.
Comes complete with a more modern Gibson hard case.

This is not a museum piece pretending to be alive. This is the sort of vintage Junior that reminds you why Gibson’s late-’50s golden era still matters. One chord and suddenly your wallet starts negotiating with your conscience.
