1988 Vintage B.C. Rich Eagle EG-1501 Special Edition, Made in Japan
For sale is a 1988 Made in Japan B.C. Rich EG-1501 Limited Edition Eagle guitar in excellent condition. This guitar was released in the late 80's in Japan for only a few years (the famous "R" serial number only seen on Japanese made guitars), and it was B.C. Rich's attempt to recreate the 1959 Les Paul Standard in their own fashion. This guitar retailed for 150,000 Yen back in the late 80's, equivalent to top tier Greco or Burny Gibson lawsuit era models.
Mahogany body with thick arched flamed maple top, mahogany set-neck with long tenon joint, rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets, mother of pearl cloud inlays, gorgeous pearl binding throughout the guitar. The mahogany used on this guitar is gorgeous, the dense end grains and relatively lightweight of 8.4 lbs speak for the quality of the wood. The rosewood used on the fretboard is excellent as well, something that can only be found in 80's Japanese vintage guitars.
The frets have been re-fretted with Jescar 51108-S stainless steel frets, and fitted with a new bone nut. Truss rod is in excellent condition, the nut has been cleaned and lubricated. All gold hardwares, original Gotoh made tuners, and original made in Japan quad bridge. Intonation, action height, neck relief are all perfectly set, fitted with brand new Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings.
It has few nicks and dings as shown in the pictures, but otherwise in almost pristine condition despite being almost 40 years old.
It comes with a hard shell case, the case itself shows some wear on the exterior.
