Bill Tippin Bravado 2008

Based in Marblehead Massachusetts Bill Tippin has been at the forefront of the USA acoustic guitar scene for decades. Bill started off repairing yachts before branching out in to guitar making and his client list has included Jewel, Neil Young, Ace Frehley, Adam Sandler and others. He was also the head of Dream Guitars’ repair and restoration department for many years.

Bill’s signature model Bravado model for the late, great Al Petteway remains one of our favourite modern American acoustics.

The Bravado  is Bill’s take on the Jumbo model with a 16″ lower bout but a shallower body (4.25″) which makes it a very comfortable guitar to sit with. The top is Adirondack spruce which has aged beautifully making the dark winter growth lines even more pronounced. The back and sides are spectacular quilted mahogany. It’s beautiful stuff, we don’t believe it’s The Tree but it’s not far off.

We knew this guitar when it first arrived in the UK and it has had one owner since then. It’s in good condition with only some slight marks and a little finish checking to show its age. These are barely visible in daylight and we had to ramp up the lights in order to get them on camera.
