A Beautiful Top & Tom Murphy Hand-Aged Finish!

You will have a hard time finding an R-9 to compete with this one... She is a 9-year-old gem, hand-aged by Tom Murphy with a beautiful flame top. By 2000, Gibson's legendary aging expert had truly perfected his craft, producing some of his most valued works in that era. The aging is mainly focused on delicate finish-checking, fading of the plastic & metal parts, and patina of the binding; basically a recreation of a 1959 "Burst” that was played sparingly, and spent most its life safely tucked in the case. The results are stunningly realistic, and will make you feel like you are playing $250,000 worth of Les Paul history. It has great tone and nice and smooth action. Tom Murphy nailed the look of a real vintage 59' Burst with this Vintage Classic Washed Cherry Sunburst finish. This beautiful guitar is the very essence of the archetype – The real deal 1959 Les Paul Standard! 

The aging is really well done on this one making it look just right. You don't have to look under a microscope to see the checking on the nice and curly flamed maple top on this beauty. It has a perfect and solid 1 piece rosewood board with beautiful dark black streaks and crazy grain patterns. It has a beautiful reddish chocolaty color. It looks very similar to certain Brazilian rosewood. It was made 4 years after Gibson last confirmed the use of Brazilian rosewood but Mr. Murphy obviously selected this board for its exotic look and feel. The performance of this guitar is everything you'd expect from the Gibson Custom Shop, with top-shelf craftsmanship & real PAF tone.
