Up for sale, a 2008 Edwards by ESP Flying V model E-FV-85D in perfect working order, loaded with the original pair of USA-made Seymour Duncan humbuckers. The Edwards division of ESP is made and marketed exclusively in the Japanese domestic market, and this E-FV-85D model pays homage to Gibson’s ‘67 Flying V.

The all-mahogany set-neck construction and rosewood fretboard result in a remarkably resonant acoustic tone, and the smooth growl and inherent warmth of mahogany is faithfully translated by the Seymour Duncan pickup complement, featuring an SH-1 in the neck position and an SH-4 JB in the bridge. The SH-1 was designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with sweet singing sustain and a full-but-tight bass register. The SH-4 JB bridge pickup is Duncan's original hot-rodded humbucker. The low end is full and powerful, the highs are crisp and detailed, and there’s an upper-midrange bump that adds crunch and chunk to heavy chords, translating to a singing, vocal-like quality when playing single notes or solos. Featherweight at 5lbs 14oz, this Edwards has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and a hair more heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .955” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the stock medium jumbo frets, which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing no wear. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut is carved from unbleached bone, offering excellent sustain and note articulation, measuring 1 5/8” in width. On the headstock, the truss rod cover retains the raised Edwards logo, and the Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold stable pitch.

All the electronics function as intended, with the Seymour Duncan humbuckers wired to the stock full-size Japanese pots and a Sprague Orange Drop cap. Controls include a three-way pickup selector switch, dedicated Volume knobs for each humbucker, and a Master Tone control. Hardware includes the ABR-1-style bridge and corresponding Gotoh stopbar tailpiece, both displaying a light dusting of patina across their nickel plating. Plastics include a trio of clean witch hat knobs and three-ply white pickguard.

Cosmetic wear on the gloss Cherry Red finish includes a number of minor dings and finish scratches across the surface of the body. There are also a few finish chips on the body points and a couple additional strap button mounting holes. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine.

A padded gigbag is included.
