Fostex R8: 8 Track Reel-to-Reel Tape Recorder (excellent condition)

Fostex R8 in excellent condition, both operationally and cosmetically. All functions perform as intended (play, record, rewind, fast forward, pitch control), all LED meters light up, and there are no significant blemishes on the machine.

The R8 is known for its advanced electronics and portability (only 22 lbs, handle on top). It uses 1/4" tape (much cheaper than 1/2" or 1") with impressively little crosstalk. Equipped with built-in Dolby C Noise Reduction, the R8 is capable of professional quality sound with almost no hiss. There are few, if any, 8-track machines that can compete in this price range.

One small note: the sound of the capstan motor seems a little loud to me, but it works completely fine (I've never used another R8, so I don't know if this little sound is common across all of them). That said, I've used and tested this machine for 10-15 hours and everything works beautifully.

Comes with one empty take-up reel.
