The Denon PRA-1003, released in Japan in 1977 during the “Golden Age” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment, is a high-fidelity control amplifier of excellent quality. As expected from Denon, the PRA-1003 is a fantastically well-built amplifier, using high-grade internal components and a high-quality circuit design. The phono equalizer stage of this amp is especially well regarded and includes several technical innovations, including use of a coupling capacitor only at the output terminal (i.e. coupling capacitors are not used between steps in the EQ amp). This provides a more linear signal path overall, preserving the musicality of your records. With this and more innovations, the PRA-1003 is a wonderfully built and designed preamp, with exceptional sound.

This amplifier is in good condition, with light natural signs of aging and use, including a few minor scratches, scuffs, and rusting (please check photos). The power light is not working. It have been thoroughly tested and checked by our professional in-house technician, confirming their flawless working quality. Denon Japanese-made amps are known for their robust construction and use of the highest quality parts, so it’s likely these units will see many more years of use.
