One vintage Pre-Rola 12" Greenback for sale. Date code puts it at January 6th 1971. Seems to be the original Pulsonic cone. Only one problem: There's a small puncture wound about 0.25x0.75" near the outer edge of the cone. I tried my best to show this in the photos.

I pulled this from a homebuilt 4x12 that was given to me as a gift by my aunt's now ex-boyfriend nearly a decade ago. He built it himself in the mid '70s. I used it for a while until I got tired of lugging it around, so I took it apart to harvest the speakers. To my disbelief, in it was this Pre-Rola T1220 and three Pre-Rola T1221's. The two best T1221's are in my main cabinet now, so I'm selling this T1220 and the extra T1221 (check my other listings.)

The green plastic shell over the magnet came unglued at some point, so I'm currently holding it to the chassis with four small strips of masking tape. Half of the label is cut off, so the only reason I know this is a 16ohm speaker was to test the terminals with my multimeter. I couldn't get a steady reading but it was bouncing back and forth between 13-17ohms, so I'm pretty confident it's the 16ohm version. The only reason I know it's a 55hz bass resonance cone is thanks to the "How to date Vintage Celestion Greenbacks" article over at bygonetones.com; a "xx 102 14" cone stamp indicates a 55hz bass resonance cone manufactured between 1968-1971.

As an aside, when I originally pulled these speakers out, two or three of them had tan, plain looking "Marshall" branded labels overtop of the Celestion labels. I can't recall whether this one did or not, but I recall the glue holding them on wasn't all that gluey anymore and I ended up peeling one or two of these Marshall labels off so that I could read the Celestion label and see exactly what the speakers were.

Edit: Since posting this listing I've received questions regarding whether the speaker works or not. To answer those who've been asking, I wired this speaker up with the other Greenback I'm selling, and yes, they both function as you would expect a speaker to, disregarding the peculiarities present in their cones, and they sound quite good. Video attached.

Note: Since I tested these speakers, the images showing the solder points are now no longer accurate, and the solder points are now mostly clear of any excess left-over wire and solder.

I ship from Canada to Canada and the USA with adequate shipping insurance and tracking. Any excess taxes or duties at the point of delivery are entirely out of my control and will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking!
