Luxman M-300:
A handsome, high-quality "Golden Era" power amplifier!
Description
The Luxman M-300, released in Japan in 1980 during the “Golden Age” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment, is a vintage power amp with excellent performance. Luxman amps from this era are renowned for their high-end circuitry and the use of superior audio components, resulting in critically acclaimed sound. This power amp is no exception. The M-300 features the Duo-Beta PlusX circuit, a revamped version of Luxman’s famous and ground-breaking “Duo-Beta” circuit. The concept behind the “Duo-Beta” circuit is that negative feedback (used in most amplifiers to enhance amplified components) is applied with individual gain to two discrete frequency ranges to condition waveforms for listening. As a result, the amp produces an exceptionally smooth mid-range, while keeping the low frequencies focused and articulate. With the Plus-X version, a low-impedance power source was adopted to preclude the necessity of using feedback, further improving mid-high frequency range. The amp can operate with Class A or Class AB output, with rated outputs of 40 W/channel (8 ohms) and 170 W/channel (8 ohms), respectively. The amp provides quality power amplification for an exceptionally smooth sound which is pleasant and enticing. It features a certain Japanese vintage quality of construction you can immediately notice, and the overall aesthetic is handsomely minimalist. Don’t miss it!
This unit is in very good condition, and shows some natural signs of aging, including some scratches and chips (please see photos). The AB output is not working. It has been thoroughly tested and checked by our professional in-house technician, confirming its otherwise working quality.
