Check out this beautiful and novel banjo, known as the Benares brass 5 string banjo! Little is known about the Benares brass banjo or of the makers John Grey and Sons London. What we do know is that these instruments are hard to come by! This banjo was most likely made sometime between the 1920's-1930's, most likely in Westminster, London.

This banjo has definite signs of wear, as it is a vintage instrument we are selling as-is. The brass resonator and brass siding are still in great condition and are absolutely eye-catching! The brass resonator removes with a single screw for an open back. Loops located next to the base of the neck and the bottom of the banjo allow for a strap to be attached, so you can play anywhere you want to go! There is chipping and wear on the neck, specifically around the 5th string tuner, as well as scratches and wear on the head stock. The banjo head has been hand painted. The tuners are Grover. This banjo has been cleaned, the fingerboard moisturized, frets polished, and restrung at Tom's Guitars in Medford.

Hard case and strap included.
