 About ‘Crashocaster’

• Several variations of Clapton’s personal guitar were made by the Fender Custom Shop throughout the years, including fancy versions with ash bodies, quilted or maple tops, abalone dot position inlays, matching headstocks, gold hardware and white pearloid pickguards, made by Senior Master Builder J. W. Black. Many of these guitars were sold for charity auctions for the Crossroads Centre of Antigua, the drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation facility founded on the small, idyllic Caribbean island in 1998.

• They include the Gold Leaf Stratocaster of 1996 (used during the Legends and Montserrat concerts in 1997) and the Crashocasters (signature model Stratocasters hand-painted by New York-based street artist John Matos, better known as Crash), used by Clapton from 2001 to 2004.

“Crashocasters”

• In January 2007, visual artist John “Crash” Matos finished painting the 50th guitar body for a limited edition run of Stratocasters (50 total) from the Fender Custom Shop. The project, which Matos began in late 2004, was inspired by the graffiti-style Stratocaster bodies he had painted for Eric Clapton, one of which, known as Crash-3, was sold in the 2004 Christie’s Eric Clapton Crossroads Auction for $321,000.

• Since the beginning of the Custom Shop project in 2004, Crash has chronicled his work on the 50 Fender Custom Shop guitars (referred to in this article as the Fender Custom Shop Crashocasters) in his online Modern Guitars journal titled “Crash Pad”.

  About our Artwork – High Quality Finish job

• The re-finish was done by our professinal luthier, who worked at Fujigen Factory(Fender Japan, Ibanez) for 23 years.

• Finish is very important because guitar sound is affected by finish. Fender custom shop eric clapton’s finish was done with urethane, and it’s somewhat hard and strong.

• As you can see our crash 1, I’m sure that it’s the nearest copy of crash 1 and has the best quality.

• Many other shops do this crash job.
 But their color, graphics, gradations, small dots on the back side and many other thigs are quite different from clapton’s original finish.

• The material of this Crash’s finish is Made in USA premium urethane and it’s 100% same material with fender, and finish was specially carefully done by our professional luthier.

• This crash is made of authentic 2005 Fender Custom shop Eric Clapton model, so the wood, pickups and hardwares are all in the highest quality. Also the sound is great. You can make rich tones !!

Details of artwork

• As you can see the pictures, we did the artwork as detail as possible.

• The color, gradation, hand brushing job and graphic art are 100% same with Clapton’s Crash !!

Condition

• It’s in very great condition. Never played after the finish’s done. So the body is NEW.

• Neck is straight and frets are in great condition. (98% remaining) 

   The year is 1996 and was ordered by Yamano Music with Super Beautiful 5A Flame Maple neck options. It looks Awesome !!!

• Set-up has been just done by professinal luthier.

• Electric parts are in great working order.

• Hardcase, tremolo bar, Fender COA and DIRTY custom shop COA included.
