I am offering for sale here an incredible sounding vintage Ibanez Concord 647, a handmade Japanese acoustic guitar from 1976 with a fine spruce top and back and sides in mahogany.
It is a rare Fender Kingman replica by Ibanez from the 1970s, a time when detailed reproduction was not yet warned by the American manufacturers of the original instruments ("pre lawsuit era"). It was the time when Japanese guitar building experienced a golden age and the high Japanese standards in instrument craftsmanship reached world fame. Indeed, some of the replicas were in no way inferior to their originals, in some cases they even surpassed them, so that the US American companies had no choice but to take legal action against the Japanese.
This Ibanez Vintage Dreadnought combines the classic Kingman design with lovingly crafted details and has a very full, brilliant sound with a loud, beautifully resolving resonance. The latter mainly due to the precious woods used: a selected, finely vibrating spruce top paired with a mahogany back and sides give this guitar a very appealing, warm sound, which is ideal for chords, harmonies and "rhythm work": a loud sound with singing highs, wonderfully carrying mids and round basses. The age in this instrument can literally be heard and playing the guitar makes so much fun that you don't really want to stop:

Apart from the great sound, this instrument features a classic black headstock in the style of the Fender Stratocaster (which was only made in Japan for a very short time), great mother-of-pearl block inlays in a narrow rosewood fingerboard and a bridge that can easily be adjusted with two screws (so the string action can be lowered/highered without any problems).
The guitar has a comfortable low string action and a very comfortable nut width of 42mm. The not too thick mahogany neck fits comfortably in the hand and makes playing the guitar a breeze. The playing feel comes very close to that of an electric guitar.
Technical specifications:
- Country of manufacture: Japan
- Year of construction: 1976
- Design: dreadnought
- Top: spruce top
- Back and sides: mahogany
- Neck: mahogany with rosewood fingerboard
- Bridge: rosewood
- Tuners: original, tuning stable Ibanez chrome tuner
- Nut width: 42mm
- String action: 3mm (XII. fret low E string)
- Binding: black and white
These Pre Lawsuit Ibanez Concord models are now rare and, due to their exceptional quality workmanship and great sound, they are in great demand:
The condition of the guitar - for its age - is awesome and there are only a few cosmetic exceptions (e.g. one/two scratches on the body/headstock, etc. ... see photos). But everything remains superficial and does not influence the sound or playability. The instrument is in the original condition without any modifications and works perfectly. The neck is straight, the string action comfortably low and the frets still good. The sound has developed very nicely due to the naturally aged spruce top and therefore stands out from any shop guitar today.
Before shipping, I adjust the guitar (I am a longtime guitar teacher) and put on new strings. Unfortunately, I sell it, because our guitar collection has become simply too extensive in the past years.
Insured shipping with DHL within Germany possible for 9.49€ or within the EU for 20.99€.
Please have a look at all photos of the condition before buying and clarify any questions with me in advance! Thank you. :)
