The COMP-3A is Golden Age Project's take on the famous LA-3A optical compressor / limiter. This unit was modified by Revive Audio in July 2017. According to Revive, "This includes a full audio path upgrade including installing new audio transformers, transistors, all capacitors and power supply modifications. They come out sounding killer with more headroom, bandwidth, lower noise and more Audio mojo in a very appreciable way."
It sounds great, especially on guitars. Some rack rash, as well as residue on the bottom of the unit (I had originally put felt feet on the bottom to sit on my desk before I had it rack mounted).
The Comp-3A retails brand new for $499.99, and the Revive Audio charges $375 for the modification.
