Fender Texas Special Tele w/ custom "Gatton" bridge plate 2003 Chrome

49 years old with a baby on the way... time to clean out the parts closet (yes, closet... a drawer is not nearly big enough). For sale is my 2003 Fender Texas Special Telecaster bridge pickup with Fender branded custom "Gatton" style bridge plate.

Here's the story behind this, in 2000, I built a custom 'blackguard' Tele replica... it was my main guitar until it was stolen in 2002. Shortly after the theft, I started gathering parts to replace the guitar. I was never able to find a body I liked well enough, nor was I able to find the time/$$$ to complete the project.... anyway, in 2017, I was reunited with the guitar (I know it sounds crazy, but it's true...WTF?!?!)

Here is the bridge I made, with Fender Texas Special Tele pickup. The bridge is a Fender vintage style plate (as used on the '52 AVRI's), but I cut the lip on the treble side (which Gatton did so his pinky nail wouldn't get snagged during finger picking). I also drilled and chamfered 2 holes in the front corners. These allow you to fasten the front edge of the bridge to the body, which greatly reduces feedback. I then had the plate rechromed.

I love the sound of the Texas Special Tele pickup... sounds very similar to a Broadcaster pickup (and I have played them, so this isn't speculation)... think 'chimey' but with punchy mids. Great clean and distorted. Pickup measures 9.98K
