Here's for sale a rare & 100% original "fiddle edge" Dobro from 1937. A tone to die for...
The first & only steel body construction Dobro model (top & back are "rolled" with the side, no solder on this one). Fretboard is made of rosewood.
This particular exemplar seems pretty unique for it's Duco+Brown Burst finish & definitely unique with its vintage decal of the "Sleepy hollow gang", a popular country band of the early 40's !
Great news, it hasn't been messed or restored, it just have been loved, played & it's perfectly playable all around the fretboard. It doesn't need any reset !
Got the original tailpiece (a unique but fragile design, commonly broken).
The body has signs of use, superficial scratches, but no indentation. Some signs of "capo abuse" on the back of the neck but it doesn't affect the comfort of playing.
Action is really low, no buzz & you can play easily with or without slide.
Frets are used but they got some more to offer.
An original lug cone is fitted in with a long-legged spider bridge. (I've bought an original short-legged spider bridge after getting this guitar, but finally didn't installed it as it's sounds so good like that ! I could sell it to the buyer as a supplement, if there's any interest).
The tone of Dobro is more nasal compared to National single-cone guitars. Dobro also offer great sustain. Maybe Nationals offers more richness in the bass range, but Dobro are really interesting to slide one the highest string & getting this typical "voice effect" !!
Comes with what I believe to be the original cardboard case (really used).
