1992 Alvarez - Dana "Scoop" Electric Guitar - Red with White Flames, Matching Strap and OHSC!

This unique guitar was designed by Dana Sutcliffe for Alvarez. The scoop “cutaway” allows you to get to the upper frets with ease. The body is solid North American Maple to give it great stability. The "Scoop’s" unique design is said to be louder, sustain longer, and have a better dynamic range than your regular guitar due to the unique cutout going below the neck and how the neck fits into the guitar body. The guitar has a nice compact size and scale length that allows a player with smaller fingers to feel very comfortable playing it. It has very fast action and is a blast to play.

Patent pending production of the guitar was started in January of 1991. They say there were four Korean built models. Two of the instruments had maple necks and rosewood fingerboards. Their colors looked almost identical to one another, Metallic Blue and Black. A white model with a graphite neck was also produced. Lastly, there was limited production of an all-natural maple body and neck model. All the bodies were made of sugar maple and featured Floyd Rose Licensed tremolos. This one has a beautiful tiger like maple neck and beautiful rosewood fingerboard.

Pictures almost capture the true bright Ferrari red color of this guitar. Many people that have seen it have commented what a beautiful shade of red it really is. Over the years I have also enhanced the head stock a bit with some nicely designed washers for the tuning pegs and a mother of pearl “fish” inlay for the truss rod cover which really pops on the guitar. For you purists, don’t worry, I have the original parts in perfect condition in the case, so if you want to put them back on you can.  

The guitar has a double locking tremolo system by Floyd Rose which holds its tuning remarkably well. It also has back-fed Dana Research pickups, the Alvarez contoured heel. The guitar also comes with two original ads showing that in 1992 the Alvarez Dana Scoop was voted “Guitar of Year” by Music and Sound Retailer Magazine. This coveted industry award was presented during the Winter NAMM Show! The guitar was a signature model for Lita Ford who was their spokesperson at the time. I also have the original black "whammy bar".

There is very little wear on the frets. See the pictures of this guitar which is in excellent condition with its original case which is in good shape but has a few dents in it (see picture). 

Please Note: The white “flames” on the guitar were carefully and painstakingly applied from what is best described as a “wrap” material. I had the wrap done and then cut out each of the flames and applied them to the guitar. It looks like it is painted as you really cant tell the flames are a wrap. But the great thing is if you don’t like it you can peel it right off back to the original red in 3 minutes! Those will probably will not last forever depending on your use. The wrap leaves no residue as I tested it before I applied it.  

Only the flames are applied (the red is the original paint color) and it gives the guitar a greatly enhanced look! Right now the guitar has the flames on it. The other pictures show it before they were applied and show what it would look like if they were taken off. The case has some damage in one of the corners but overall its in very good shape and protects the guitar well. Also: anything that looks like a scratch on the back in the pictures are just reflections. No scratches of chip damage at all. Please ask questions if you have them.
