Ural Model 650 Article 422 Vintage Soviet Electric Guitar
The Ural was the Stratocaster of the Soviet Union, being by far the most produced electric guitar in the eastern block. Quality wise it is also among the best and with the right TLC it becomes a real playable guitar with a unique sound of its own. The construction reminds alot of Japanese or German guitars of the 60's, with a basic and simple construction together with a Jazzmaster style tremolo as well as a sophisticated switching arrangement. The pickups are single coils with treble cut / phasing switches available to alter the basic sounds of each pickup.
This is the more sought after and rarer 422 (not 422p) model, which was the first model of Ural that was mass produced, it has different pickups and electrical arrangement while the quality of the constructions feels more solid and well built than the later Urals. Most likely made in the 1970's.
The condition is overall excellent, the frets have been gone over and leveled, crowned and polished as well as glued down where needed. There are no dead notes anywhere and the guitar plays brilliantly with low (2.25mm) action, rare for one of these! All of the electronics work as intended and have been gone over and cleaned. The sound is phenomenal, it has a very unique and charming character of its own. The truss rod works.
It is in much better condition than the typical guitar that you buy on big name sites directly from Russia.
A great opportunity to own a piece of Soviet guitar history! Comes with a original tremolo arm, Ural soft case and one 5 pin DIN adapter than can be used with a regular instrument cable.
Has been imported to the EU and the VAT has been paid.
