As another year in gear comes to an end, we're looking back on our sales data to answer the question of the hour: What were 2025's bestselling pedals, guitars, amps, synths, and other musical instruments?
These annual best-selling music gear are a tradition for us here at Reverb. This year, we're expanding our coverage and digging into our data to pull the most interesting gear market trends and stories to the fore, while sharing full Top 20 lists by gear category like we always do.

Artist pedals dominate the new-to-'25 bestsellers
The list above shows the 20 top-selling pedals that newly entered our bestsellers list this year. At least seven—if not eight—of those 20 are artist signature releases or, in the case of MXR's new Rockman or JHS' 424 Gain Stage, created with a very particular artist's sound in mind (Boston for the Rockman, Mk.gee for the 424).
When comparing 2025's bestsellers to previous years', we can see a growing trend in artist-related gear releases: seven last year, four in '23 and '22, 1 in '21, two in '20 and '19, and a whopping zero in '18. Think this trend will continue? Or is the artist signature pedal bubble about to burst?
Bestselling used pedals show competitive value of used gear
The Top 20 bestselling used guitar pedals in 2025 is full of long-standing staples found on pedalboards everywhere. Compare it to 2024's or even lists from earlier years, and the rankings haven't changed too much.
One reason behind these staples' longevity is because their used prices are so competitive—and increasingly competitive—when compared to new retail prices. As new price tags rise thanks to pressures like tariffs and inflation, used prices for pedals have decreased since 2022, and in 2025, sit just above pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
In 2025, buyers of the bestselling pedals above saved anywhere from 24% to 49% when buying used vs. new, when comparing the average used price across condition types to the typical new price for those products.
Compare the top 20 bestselling pedal brands of 2025 to 2015's, and you'll see just how long the dominant brands have maintained their positions. And the few that appear only on 2025's list—Universal Audio, Chase Bliss, Behringer, Fender, Xotic—all occupy lower positions.
As we discussed with in our Effects & Pedals Price Index piece earlier this year, the biggest three pedal brands—Boss, EHX, and MXR—all hold their used value better than the rest of the market, thanks to their reliability and availability.
Nostalgia tops the new-to-'25 guitars lists
Check out the new-to-'25 bestselling electrics, and what tops the list? The Epiphone Back to the Future ES-345. The limited-edition model was a surprise smash, selling out of its original run, and being resold for consistently higher-than-new prices on Reverb.
All that new—and-used activity amounted to greater total sales than Fender's new made-in-Indonesia Standard Tele and Strat or the MIM Player II Modified models.
Amp modelers win the battle, but not the war
When we mash up all traditional amps and amp modelers, it's clear to see that amp modelers have won the battle. Of the Top 20 list, there are only a handful of traditional heads or combos (Orange Micro Dark, Fender Rumble 40 V3, Vox AC15C1 Custom. Every other is a device that emulates the sound of one or more traditional amps.
However, modelers have yet to win the war. While certain modelers far outsell individual amps, there are way more traditional amps trading hands. Guitar amp combos and heads outsold amp modelers 4-to-1 in 2025.
