Fender Mustangs for Sale on Reverb

Fender debuted the Mustang in 1964 as the basis of its student model series redesign, long before Squier entered the picture. After the Mustang's release, previous '50s-era student models—the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic—were redesigned using the Mustang's body. Mustangs all had a tremolo arm and were originally available with 3/4-scale (22.5-inch) or 24-inch necks—the larger of which was more popular and still a full inch and a half shorter than a Stratocaster.

Production of these guitars ran until 1982, and like their older offset siblings, became quite popular with rockers in the '90s, leading Fender to reissue and iterate on the design throughout the decades that have followed. Mustangs in the Player and Offset Series are great guitars for the money. The US-made American Performer Mustang is built with more premium yet still affordable parts. Vintage models will definitely run you more, but overall Mustangs are still some of the most affordable Fenders on the market.
