The Retro Instruments Doublewide is not some scaled-down, compromised version of a "better" product -- while inspired by Retro's Sta-Level, this tube compressor for the popular 500 Series format is very much its own animal with a tone and action that hangs with the priciest rackmount behemoths. With custom Cinemag transformers, NOS tubes for the gain reduction circuit, and a sound so big that'll make you think it's taking up every space in your 500 Series chassis, the Doublewide is a premier lead vocal and bass compressor with plenty of colorful grab and no lack of mojo.
