2006 SG Bass in Heritage Cherry, one of the more distinctive and underrated bass designs Gibson has produced. Lightweight, resonant, and incredibly vibey, these have a sound and feel that’s hard to replicate with anything else.The mid-2000s SG Bass models are well-liked because they hit a sweet spot between vintage character and modern usability. They keep the classic Gibson thump and look, but with a more articulate and usable pickup design than many older EB-style basses. A lot of players also feel these years had particularly solid USA build quality before Gibson started changing specs and materials in later runs.This one is in VG-to-excellent condition (super conservative on the grading, no major dings or scratches, but some standard wear) and has clearly been a total case queen over the years. Extremely clean overall with only light signs of handling. The neck pickup delivers huge, deep low end with that classic Gibson “thump,” while the bridge mini humbucker adds clarity and definition that keeps things musical and usable across a lot of styles.Smaller, lighter, and more compact than most basses, they’re also incredibly comfortable to play and have a really lively acoustic resonance.Clean mid-2000s SG basses do not show up very often anymore, especially examples this well cared for.
