Fender MJT Strat Aztec Gold Medium Relic

MJT Strat Aztec Gold Medium Relic is a custom-built guitar crafted by the highly respected American luthier Mark Jenny. MJT first gained recognition for refinishing and relicing guitar bodies using period-correct nitrocellulose lacquer and lightweight, high-quality tonewoods. Thanks to the outstanding quality of his work and materials, demand quickly grew, leading him to build complete instruments to customer specifications.

This guitar is one of those custom-built examples, assembled with premium components throughout:

Lightweight body finished in a stunning Aztec Gold nitrocellulose relic finish

USACG neck with a fat C profile, nitro finish and relic treatment, rolled fingerboard edges, medium frets, 9.5" radius, and vintage-style Kluson tuners

Vintage-correct 1960s-style tremolo

High-quality electronics, including carefully selected potentiometers and a premium switch

Suhr V63 neck and middle pickups, paired with a DiMarzio Norton bridge humbucker, offering the versatility and articulation of a modern Suhr while retaining the warmth and character of a classic Fender

The guitar was conceived as a 1961 Fender Stratocaster reissue with a modern 9.5" fingerboard radius. The craftsmanship and finish quality are on par with a very good Fender Custom Shop instrument. Tonally, it delivers everything you would expect from a premium Strat-style guitar: warm, articulate, rich in harmonics, with excellent sustain and exceptional dynamic response.

The quality of the build is immediately apparent from the first touch. Nothing feels compromised, and once you start playing, it becomes obvious that this is an instrument with real character and soul—one that inspires you to play.

MJT guitars are highly regarded in the United States, and fully built examples typically start at around $1,500 USD and can go considerably higher, particularly when ordered with custom finishes and premium specifications.

This guitar is professionally set up, plays effortlessly, and is in excellent condition—if such a term can be applied to a heavy relic instrument. As this is a one-off custom build, demos of other MJT guitars are not particularly relevant; serious buyers are welcome to try it in person.
