Here we have a classic 1970s version of the much revered Tone-Bender Fuzz, made in London, England, with its now classic orange and black graphics on a silver pressed steel case, this one dating from 1976.

There have been many variations on the circuit design over the years and the differences are often technical and have little effect on the overall sound of the pedals, at least for the majority of consumers. The various incarnations of the Tone-Bender circuit were discontinued in 1976.

For the geeks out there, this particular version is heavily based on the Tone-Bender ‘Mk III/IV’ design but with a slightly different circuit based on a simplified Electro-Harmonix Big Muff v3. This subtle internal difference can be easily identified by the word ‘Tone’ instead of ‘Treble’ and ‘Bass’ under the tone control and the inversion of the ‘Instrument’ and ‘Amplifier’ jacks.
