Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a very nice older Turner S22D dynamic microphone from the 1950's. This heavily deco inspired piece with satin chrome finish makes this one of the most widely recognized microphones ever produced. The 22 series came in several different styles over the years with the only changes coming in the lower half that carried the Turner badge and the type of element used. The 22 microphone either had the crystal element or the Dynamic element. All 22D's carried the dynamic element which normally held up better than the crystal elements over the past 70 years. This mic comes with the short cable shown in which to operate.

You'll see in pic # 2 an old 1949 Turner advertisement showing specs and priced on these 40's & 50's era mics.

You generally don't find a 22D that works well or works at all. This one sadly...was one of them so I took liberties to remove it and installed a vintage Shure 533SA dynamic element. These older dynamic elements are omni-directional, very sturdy and rugged and have a great tone for use with a harmonica. The high Z setting has a dirtier tone that's void of bass and has blistering overdrive. You can really get up on these mics and give it all you got. This will also make an excellent mic if you are looking for a "rockabilly" sound for vocals. If you're in a band or recording and want an original old school sound then this mic will do you justice. It sounds just like the original element. This was the "S" model meaning it came with the on / off switch. It was the most expensive model of the 22D series and the switch still works as it should.

This unit has the 2nd generation lower flat front and rounded rear along with black Turner badge with on / off switch. The overall finish is very nice and shows just minor scratches. Zero dents, pitting or fractures. The front grill looks very nice too as does the inner black cloth screen. I would give a this mic a conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. This would make a very nice display in any collection of vintage early microphones even if you don't want to use it. A true piece of Americana and a conversation piece anywhere it sits.

The threading for the cable and mic stand are perfect. No issues. Solid inside and out.

The mic comes with a vintage short cable that has the newer Switchcraft male XLR end connector. The cable itself is just 6 inches long. Soft pliable and in excellent condition. Simply leave the short cable screwed onto the mic then attach any longer XLR cable when needed as an extension. Far more practical and it will keep you from doing any damage to the threads on the mic.

MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

I do have older microphone stands in my Ebay store if you need one for this S22D.

As with all my vintage items...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
