MORE HI RES PHOTOS, LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR AND DEMO VIDEOS AT GUITARSMITH ONLYThis mustang has been routed for a humbucker with a Seymour Duncan JB in white installed in the bridge position. The switches have been replaced with matching white ones. The pick-guard has been replaced with a red tortoiseshell pick-guard to match the shade of Kurt Cobain's Mustang Pickguard, which has been cut to accommodate the pick up. The bridge pick up is original and has a white matching cover placed over it. Lastly, the bridge has been replaced with a Tune-o-Matic style bridge for better tuning stability. This is an exact recreation of the awesome modifications that Kurt Cobain of Nirvana had done to his touring Fender Mustangs which were also made in Japan. These guitars were released as Kurt Cobain signature Mustang's which are very hard to come by and were only available in three finishes, Lake Placid Blue, Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red. The inspiration behind this guitar was to create a Kurt Cobain signature Mustang in the aged Sonic Blue finish that would match Kurt Cobain's original and be closer in looks and styling than the later Kurt Cobain Signature guitars and is based on the Sonic Blue Mustang Kurt played which Kurt had called 'Sky Stang I' which was Kurt's most used Mustang and can be seen in the Live and Loud concert in Seattle 1993.
The guitar is in great condition for its age, with just one small ding on the front of the guitar just below the bridge. There is a tiny hairline finish crack in the upper neck pocket, but this is common with most Fender guitars after time. The pickguard has two small hole either side of the bridge pick up where the original single-coil pick-up position was before it was converted to fit a humbucker. This humbucker has been mounted into the body like the Kurt Cobain signature Mustang's. The guitar does not come with a case or gig bag. The guitar plays and sounds just like the Kurt Cobain signature Mustangs, the Seymour Duncan JB pick up just roars, and the stock Fender bridge pick up has classic Mustang tones. The guitar is nice and light with an alder body, maple neck and Rosewood fretboard. The approximate measurements of the neck are as follows; The width of the nut is 39.79mm / 1.5665", the depth of the neck at the first fret is 20.34mm / 0.801" and 22.98mm / 0.905" at the 12th fret. It has a C shape neck profile with a 7.25" fretboard radius. The width of the frets are 2.00mm / 0.079" and 1.05mm / 0.0415" deep. The guitar weighs approx 3.345KG.
