It's been a while since we've been completely stumped on a piece. This 1930's archtop gave us a run for our money for a while there. Wm. L. Lange started as a banjo maker in the mid-20's and began producing archtops with the help of C.F. Martin in 1934. Production ceased in 1940 and only saw a blip in the mid-to-late 40's with the help of Gretsch. This Model N is constructed of Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with a Maple tobacco sunburst top. For being approximately 80 years old, she's in pretty good condition. There are a handful of really special specs of this guitar. To start, the nut (1.636") is the original adjustable nut. The top of the headstock is cut at an angle. This was a pain to do and could only be done by hand back then. The neck is inlayed with snowflake fret markers set into a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. The neck meets the body at the 15th fret on this archtop. This guitar comes with the original hardshell case that has some custom art. :) See below for guitar specs.
