About this listing
First year model of "Artist", the top of Gibson's ambitious Victory Bass series of the 80's. Made in 1981. The pickups are confirmed to be original 1981 from the back stamp, and the neck pocket still has the July 1981 stamp, so the wood and pickups retain their original configuration. Equipped with two Series VIIIB humbuckers. The body and neck configuration made entirely of maple, 24-fret fingerboard, and deep cutaway for good high-position access, all reflect the modern orientation of the time, and the guitar has a well-defined bass and rich sustain. The original active circuit has been removed from this model, and it has been converted to a passive 2-volume/1-tone wiring. The internal parts are CTS pots and Switchcraft jacks, and the capacitors are a combination of Russian film capacitors (K40n-2a 0.022μF / 0182 note) and orange ceramic capacitors (223 note). The jack was replaced with a new one of the same brand (Switchcraft) due to malfunction. As for the switches, the mini-switch on the neck side is wired as a pickup selector and can be switched. The mini-switch on the jack side has been replaced, but is currently unwired and dummy. Cracks were found at the wood joints of the body, and the gaps have been filled in. There is a crack in the head. There are several screw holes in various parts of the body. Some of them have been filled. The pickguard is deformed and the neck end side is floating. Overall, there are scratches, dents, paint chips, and rust on the metal. The neck has some original tension that cannot be corrected by the truss rod, but there are no problems with the current settings. The string height cannot be lowered below the current value due to the limit of saddle adjustment. Item Rank: B: Fairly scratched and used, but no problems in normal use.
