YAMAHA SB-30 ALL-ORIGINAL VINTAGE MIJ BASS WITH ORIGINAL YAMAHA HARD CASE

All original and all-complete vintage Japanese bass circa 1969. Even includes the original bridge cover mute bar and pickup guard.

Cosmetically...

this is in fabulous shape for a 55 year-old. No damage or repairs and with all-shiny and all-functioning hardware & electrics. A little age-related tarnishing but only the chrome bridge cover sports a dent.

The neck, fingerboard and frets are great. Easy to play, great intonation and action right across the fretboard.

The maple necks on Yamaha basses from this period are very impressive. We have owned a number of SB basses over the years and the gorgeous figuring on this particular maple neck is up there with the best of them. Check out that lovely grain.

The body and neck have a few very minor blemishes but Yamaha's legendary finish quality is fully in evidence here. Please see our detailed photos.

The single pickup on the SB-30 (the 50 & 70 are both twin pickup) has an impressive range. From thump to edge in a single tone sweep.

This one has good quality flat wound strings on board and plays and sounds as solid and super 60s vintage as it gets.

The inclusion of the original Yamaha hard case is a rare bonus. This case has one broken hinge but all the clasps operate fine and above all it still offers very sturdy protection.

In summary...

A great example of a collectable vintage Japanese bass from the glory years of Japanese guitar building. Sounds as superb as it looks.
