Recaster Bombora Bass is #23 out of the Atelier SK14 Recaster Workshop.
Stoked by the chilled vibes of classic surf instrumentals Steve reworked a Peavey Jazz Bass into something bustin’.
Out went the ceramic pickups and in went Wilkinson Alnico 5 Jazz pickups for a great vintage tone.
The kook loom hung a wipeout and in came a boss ‘varia-tone’ series/parallel switch circuit with paper-in-oil capacitor for real deep tone (hence Bombora). The bridge was swapped-out for a Wilkinson brass-saddle version too.
The body and are finished in nitrocellulose Daphne Blue and hand aged. The plastic and bright parts have all been aged too.
This baby plays like it’s from today but looks like it’s from 1962.
Comes with a beaten-up hard case that’s nothing to look at, but does the job!
