When news broke ahead of NAMM 2018 that Strymon was finally entering the Eurorack market, the excitement among synth enthusiasts had already been building for two years.
Originally revealed as the Generalissimo in 2016, Strymon's Magneto dTape Echo and Looper is an incredibly diverse effects unit from one of the top guitar effects builders in the world. After two years of development (and a decade of expertise gleaned from Strymon's pedal-building), the Magento is sure to impress sound designers, tone sculptors, and synth heads of all kinds.
As you can see in the video above, the Magneto is a versatile unit, capable of producing lush, orchestral sounds from even the simplest of source material. Its three operational modes—echo, sound on sound looper, and phrase sampler—can be deployed to craft soundscapes, create melodies, or add character to a given tone.
The dTape delay algorithm emulates vintage tape machine timbres from its four digital "tape heads." The Pitch knob provides a full octave up and down, and can be used to select any number of scales. The Magneto's built-in spring reverb will also add space and depth without being overdriven.
