Strymon Announces Sunset Overdrive

Following up on the Riverside OD from last year, Strymon has announced a new dual overdrive dubbed the Sunset, a two-channel pedal with six distinct OD circuits and flexible stacking options.

Strymon Sunset

Built around a classic JFET gain stage, the Sunset combines an analog overdrive path with complex DSP controls for a best-of-both-worlds hybrid approach. This method allows players to retain an analog overdrive sound with the added precision of a digital control set.

According to Strymon's release info for the Sunset, the six core overdrive circuits include: "Germanium", "Texas", "Treble", "2stage", "Hard", and "JFET."

The Sunset also features a bright switch, expression input, as well as level, tone, and drive controls over each channel.

While mostly known for their widely celebrated delay and reverb pedals, Strymon has only recently dipped into the overdrive world. Last year's Riverside was a top seller for the firm, but did not achieve the same universal acclaim as pedas like the Timeline or BlueSky. The Sunset marks their second attempt at an overdrive and is set to compete with the recently launched Brothers from Chase Bliss Audio as well as a crowded field of less versatile overdrives.
