In 1846 W. (William) Temlett set up a banjo-making workshop at 95 Union Street, London, S.E., with F. Roberts as production manager.

William Temlett was one of the first English banjo makers.

He was also behind the invention of the 6-string and 7-string banjo, which he named the "zither" banjo after his 1869 patent.

It is assumed that he produced banjos subsequently sold in France by JTL, as attested by certain period catalogs, some of whose specifications give us information on this subject.

All in all, this is a superb banjo for sale, a historic witness to one of the first popular names in 19th-century banjo making in Europe and the USA: William Temlett.

What's more, this banjo is in excellent condition and set up just as it should be, so it plays perfectly, with a soft, very pleasant feel.

It's sure to please musicians, enthusiasts and collectors alike.
