Northwest Vintage Guitars presents an all original and super lightweight 1960 Gibson Melody Maker Single Cut with a Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and the 1959 neck profile. This is the earliest iteration of the Melody Maker and it has a unique wider single pickup that delivers tons of warm earthy tones. Think of it as a vintage Mustang on both pickups. And the neck is the perfect 1959 profile that everyone loves. It's a solid Mahogany body and neck with no cracks or issues. The original finish is holding up well and has the patina and weather checking we love to see. The original pots date to week 5 of 1960 and week 50 of 1959 so this one likely shipped out of Kalamazoo in February or March of 1960. It comes safely packed in the original Alligator Chipboard case with all working latches.
The nut measures 1.69", neck depth is .89"-.98" at the 1st and 12th frets respectively. It's the holy grail late '59 C neck profile that most folks fall in love with. Freshly strung and accurately intonated with D'Addario 10-46 nickel strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod turns in both directions, and the relief is currently set for optimum playability. 25.75" scale, 12" radius, 6.00 lbs. The frets have been leveled, crowned and polished and the action is at 1.65mm-1.25mm for an effortless playing experience. There are a few scratches and residue/missing finish from the "GARY" metal sticky letters in the case. It remains in excellent playable condition with no dead spots.
