About this listing
Up for sale is a rare Fender Japan MTL-32 Mini Telecaster in OWB/M, made in Japan circa 1992–1993 with an M serial number. This is one of the charming and increasingly hard-to-find early 1990s Fender Japan mini models from the FujiGen era. While it is a compact mini Telecaster, it is not simply a toy guitar — it has a real Telecaster-style layout, a maple neck and fingerboard, 21 frets, and classic Telecaster SS pickup configuration. The scale length is 470 mm / 18.5", compared to the standard Fender scale of 648 mm / 25.5". Because of this short scale, it naturally has a higher-pitched, capo-like character when tuned up. Tuning it A-D-G-C-E-A gives a feel similar to placing a capo on the 5th fret of a regular guitar. It can also be played in standard tuning, although the string tension will be lighter. One of the coolest things about this model is that, despite its small size, it still has a surprisingly “real Fender Japan” feel. It is compact, fun, and very collectible, but also genuinely playable and enjoyable as a musical instrument. This example comes with its original Fender soft case, adjustment tools, and original Fender document/certificate. The overall condition is very clean for its age, making it a nice piece for Fender Japan collectors, Telecaster fans, or anyone looking for a unique short-scale / travel-size guitar with real MIJ character.(Specifications)Brand: Fender Japan Model: MTL-32 Mini Telecaster Year: 1992–1993 Serial Number: M018955 Made in Japan / FujiGen era Color: OWB/M Body: Basswood Neck: Maple Fingerboard: Maple Frets: 21 Nut Width: 38.5 mm / 1.52" Scale Length: 470 mm / 18.5" Overall Length: 78 cm / 30.7" Weight: 2.0 kg / 4.41 lbs Pickup Configuration: SS Controls: Volume, Tone, 3-way blade switch Bridge: Top-load Telecaster-style bridge(Condition)The guitar is in very good overall condition for its age. There are some small dings and light signs of use.
