Fender Precision Bass Lyte – Made in Japan 1994 – (NOS) New Old StockAn exceptional New Old Stock example of the highly regarded Japanese-made Fender Precision Bass Lyte, Serial No. T002083, dating to approximately 1994.This bass has never been played and has remained carefully stored since new. Remarkably, it still retains its original Fender Inspection/Shipping Tag, making it an increasingly difficult example to find in this level of preservation.The Precision Bass Lyte was Fender's modern, lightweight interpretation of the Precision Bass concept. Built in Japan, it combines a downsized, deeply contoured body with a slim maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, creating an instrument considerably more compact and comfortable than a traditional Precision Bass while retaining a full 34" scale.This particular example is especially striking thanks to its highly figured Flame-style sunburst finish, extending to the matching finished headstock. The figuring is exceptionally dramatic across both the front and back of the body, with the dark outer burst creating a beautiful contrast against the amber centre.The electronics use Fender's versatile P/J pickup configuration, combining a split Precision-style pickup with a Jazz-style bridge pickup. An active onboard circuit and four-control layout provide considerably greater tonal flexibility than a traditional passive Precision Bass.The instrument retains its Fender-branded pickups, original hardware, bridge, tuners and control knobs. The photographs show just how remarkably clean the instrument has remained, including the back of the body, neck, hardware and headstock.The headstock clearly carries the Precision Bass Lyte, Made in Japan and T002083 markings.What makes this example particularly unusual is not simply that it is a Japanese Precision Bass Lyte, but its condition. Most examples from this period have now seen decades of regular use.
