Greco Strat from 1980 in a cool Red finish. And while that’s pretty cool in its self…. There’s more. This guitar was obtained from guitarist KK Proffitt who was a fixture on the Boston music scene when she lived there in the late 70’s through the 80’s.Ms Proffitt is a lefty (we have several of her guitars listed)She had a guitar playing friend in Boston at the time who was also a lefty, his name was Elliot Easton….and you know who he is.As the story goes during The Cars tour of Japan the folks at Greco gave Elliot a couple of guitars. Upon his return he sold this guitar to KK. Insisting that she buy it because it matched color of the boots she wore at gigs.On the topic of color. I listed this as Dakota Red but to my eyes it looks like a cross between Cimarron and Moroccan.I have seen other vintage Greco’s with similar finish. This is a very clean guitar showing only minor play wear. Frets are excellent. It’s a great player and sounds terrific.EMG pickups with Elliot’s trade mark mini toggle switching. The original pickguard assembly is include as is the original hard case. In a 2007 Vintage Guitar magazine article on Elliot’s gear, author Willie Mosley references his Greco Strats. This guitar must sit pretty high on the Greco food chain of cool. Shake It Up!
