About this listing
In stock and ready to ship! Pictures of the actual guitar! SpecificationsThe guitar combines a solid Sitka spruce top with solid genuine mahogany back and sides, giving it the warm, woody voice associated with vintage mahogany Martins. Compared to a D-18, the D-16T has a slightly brighter attack and a more immediate response thanks to its Hybrid A-Frame bracing. The satin finish also allows the guitar to resonate freely and gives it a natural, broken-in feel from day one.Its Extra Low Profile mahogany neck makes it comfortable and fast to play, while decorative touches such as the herringbone rosette, herringbone back strip, and abalone diamond-and-square inlays elevate it beyond a basic workhorse acoustic.Body Size : Dreadnought (14-fret)Top : Solid Sitka spruceBack & Sides : Solid genuine mahoganyBracing : Scalloped Hybrid A-Frame X bracingNeck Joint : Mortise & Tenon ("Technology")Neck : Solid genuine mahoganyNeck Profile : Extra Low ProfileFingerboard : East Indian rosewoodBridge : East Indian rosewoodScale Length : 25.4" (645 mm)Nut Width : 1-11/16" (42.9 mm)Bridge String Spacing : 2-1/8"Frets : 20 total (14 clear)Inlays : Abalone Diamonds & SquaresHeadplate : East Indian rosewood with raised gold Martin logoRosette : Fine-pattern herringboneBack Strip : HerringboneBinding : TortoisePickguard : TortoiseNut : CorianSaddle : MicartaTuners : Chrome enclosed gearFinish : Satin (body and neck), aging toner on topCase : Martin #640 hardshell caseDescriptionThe Martin D-16T is one of the more interesting models in Martin's history. Introduced in 1995, the "T" stands for Technology, referring to Martin's then-new Mortise & Tenon (M&T) neck joint and Hybrid A-Frame X bracing. These construction methods were designed to make production more efficient while preserving the classic Martin tone. The D-16T eventually evolved into the D-16GT, which featured the same construction with a gloss top.
