The 665 was designed for broadcast use while the EV 664 was designed for PA use, the 665 had a much more natural sound signature. The 665 in fact had the flattest frequency response out of the 664 and 666! The 664/666 had a much peakier sound signature, with big presence boosts in the treble and things of that nature. Besides this microphone having a sound signature you could employ today, it also has brand-new foam inside the grille! The new foam will aid in plosive rejection and keep debris out of the grille. It will also look a lot better than having discolored foam that likely smells in there. Grab the underrated 665 if you'd like a microphone that deserves just as much praise as the 666!
