About this listing
Offering a very fine Es-125 copy from The Loar!An amazingly great version of this vintage classic! It plays so much better than the 1968 original I owned in the early ‘70s! The axe has been adjusted for maximum playability and tonal responses (from its very faithful p90 ’dogear’ recreations!). This is partially done with shims - which we stock for the purpose. P90s are more sensitive to string distance adjustments than humbuckers - so getting this dialed in right is important. The guitar has been strung with a new set of D’Addario 10-46 ‘Half Round‘s‘. They seem to cover the palette it excels at. From r&b through rock-a-billy and jazz stylings! But if you want something different - we do send extra strings with your purchase.A copy that does the original proud!Gibson’s thin-lines were a turning point in the evolution of their Electric Spanish guitars. Delivering some ‘vintage archtop‘ tonality in a more slender package - this LH-302t tribute sits immediately ahead of the ‘335s’ in sound and style… More ‘defined‘ than the full depth ‘125’ - while still grabbing some acoustic mojo. Single notes pop and bloom fully from the front dogear! Full up - they come out rich and almost saturated... Classic jazz lives there - so with a slight roll-off of volume or tone - mellow chords and velvety arpeggios will ring out... But move to the middle position (neck plus bridge) - and some natural compression begins to drive the sound... Adjusting the pots - Motown; sixties/ seventies rock; Americana - and more defined sounds - can all be dialed in…More on the 302‘s style and tonality: Its larger cousin (historically speaking) was the ES-295 - heard on Elvis’s early recordings. Scotty Moore defined the bright or muted fills that became musical frames for the king’s velvety vocals. This thin-line version of the ‘295’ brings that rock-a-billy ‘definition’ in a skinnier body. The electronics package and numbered knobs offer very accurate mixing and matching of settings to get into that tonal sweet spot… Fyi, no pickguard on the cherryburst version of this axe - unless you add one.=> After a few bars of playing, you’ll forget that this guitar was made in a place that Scotty Moore and Elvis never visited! Or Wes - for that matter! Add a pedal (or amp gain?) for country, blues, or sixties pop and rock stylings... Flip to the back pickup - roll off some trebles - up the gain slightly - and you’re in Tele territory!Detailed Model Specs: Body style: full hollow, single bound, w set neck,Neck wood: Mahogany,Fretboard: rosewood,Scale: 24.75” (‘Gibson’ scale),Neck carve: medium ‘C’ (not ‘thin C’, as stated elsewhere!),Frets: 19 medium gauge.Nut width: 1 and 11/16” or 1.6875” (jazz chord spacing),Top wood: Maple laminates,Body wood: maple and maple laminates,Finish: gloss,Lower bout: 16”,Body depth: 1 and 7/8” (not “1.5”, as stated elsewhere!)Truss rod: 2 way adjustable,Bridge: floating tune-a-matic,Tuning machines: Tonepros Kluson oem,Nut material: bone,Controls: 2 x volume and tone,Pickups: ‘The Loar p’90s’ (vintage dogear repros),Case: premium, form fitting after market wood hardcase.* * *The takeaway:A slimmer ‘full hollow’ guitar that can go jazz to rock-a-billy; country to blues; or roots to rock ‘n roll.
