The "CRIMSON" from the Legend of Fuzz series, a recreation of the early Russian-made BIG MUFF Pi model, the "RED ARMY OVERDRIVE" In 1969, Electro-Harmonix released the first version of its legendary Big Muff distortion fuzz, the gTriangle.h Throughout the 1970s, various new versions of this famous circuit were released, including the V2 gRamfs Headh (1973), V3 gPih (1977), and V4 gOP-Amph (1978), but production of all of them ceased in 1984. Due to Electro-Harmonixfs second bankruptcy, the Big Muff?which had been a powerhouse product?disappeared from the market for about 10 years. In the early 1990s, founder Mike Matthews learned that Electro-Harmonix pedals from the 1970s were being traded at vintage/rare prices, so in 1991, he signed a manufacturing agreement with a former Soviet Union manufacturing company in St. Petersburg to revive the Big Muff. Although this new version is technically referred to as the 7th version of the Big Muff, Mike no longer owned the original trademark, so it was named the gMike Matthews Red Army Overdriveh by Sovtek. This version is the very first Russian-made Big Muff and is likely the rarest model of all versions. Only a very small number were produced between 1991 and 1992, and with almost none remaining in existence, it is virtually impossible to obtain one. Although it shares characteristics with the famous Sovtek gCivil Warh (late 1992) version, this version is considered a distinct model in its own right. Warmer, clearer, and with a more defined sound than any subsequent Sovtek Big Muff, the Red Army offers a unique flavor of this very familiar effect. Crimson is an authentic replica of the Red Army owned by Josh Scott, allowing you to experience a unique part of fuzz history. While it shows signs of use, such as scratches and dirt, it is currently in full working order. * The item shown in the photo is the complete set, including all accessories.
