BIG MUFF; BIG FUZZ!
For sale here is a player's grade vintage fuzz pedal that has been serviced and fortified by sir Hagg at Haggtronix.
This one came in from an older regular of mine. The outside is a standard 1976 Big Muff Pi, but INSIDE it is a 1973 Ram's Head. He said the original enclosure was trashed and he rehoused it...well sometime around 1976.
When it came in, it had a little noise and one or two of the pot shafts was bent; so I had Paul at Haggtronix service it. He had to replace the pots and get modern repro knobs (the old knobs only fit on the proprietary pots). Comes with the original pots and guts Paul removed (knobs are being sold seperately). He also added a modernized power supply, so it runs on a modern negative opening 9v and has a safety diode that will keep it from blowing due to bad power, etc.
The battery still works and it will run on a standard 9v battery. The switch also works and turns the pedal on and off, but cuts power to both the hardwired power and the battery.
This pedal is the best of both the vintage and boutique worlds. Modern boutique rebuild using vintage parts. I feel like this pedal would be best utilized by a touring musician that needs vintage tone that is reliable night after night or for an engineer that wants a vintage pedal for a studio that won't add a ton of noise to the mix.
(I realized after posting this that I did not get pictures of the guts, but I will get some of those here soon. 100% confirmed by myself and Paul at Haggtronix that all is 100% as described above.)
Got questions? Shoot me a message, I love nerding out with other gearheads!
