African Mahogany has a warm, deep and clear tone with a lower pitch than Maple. The medium thick shells have a nice balance between volume and resonance which makes this a very versatile all-round set both live and in the studio.

Segmented shells, like this one, are made of blocks of wood that are stacked on top of each other. Due to the way the pieces are cut, they reflect light differently and give a 3D-like effect when viewed from different angles. These are solid wood drums, which makes them very responsive, with a clearer tone than ply drums. The massive pieces of wood also make the drum shells very stable, which makes reinforcement rings redundant.

All bearing edges, snare beds, holes for lugs etc. are made with a tolerance of .005″ (five thousandths of an inch) in a CNC machine which makes the build quality extremely precise.

The set's hardware consists of die-cast bass drum claws and solid legs with reversible spikes/rubber. The toms have 2.3mm hoops with rubber-suspended rims, as do both floor toms, which increases resonance in the drums considerably. The 6 inch deep snare drum has a Dunnet snare mechanism, Puresound snarewires and 10 tube lugs. Included in the shellpack are two tom stands from Pearl Advanced Hardware System and two Pearl TH-900S/C tom arms.

New skins have been fitted to all toms, Remo Emperor Clear and Remo Ambassador Clear. The snare drum has a new Remo Emperor Coated head and a new Remo Hazy. The bass drum is fitted with a Remo Powersonic Clear with removable damping pad, and an Aquarian front skin with KickPort.

The drums appear almost as new! The only signs of use that exist are a very small nick in the finish of the bass drum, and some traces of a bass drum pedal on the drum's wooden hoop.
