Few pedals in the boutique world carry the mystique and tonal reputation of the original Hermida Audio Zendrive — and this is the real thing. Hand-built by Alfonso Hermida himself in January 2008, featuring his signature "goop" circuit (the black epoxy potting compound over the components that made these early units legendary), and personally signed inside the enclosure. Build #38 of a tantalisingly small production run, this is a genuine pre-Lovepedal original from the era collectors specifically seek out. The Zendrive was designed to capture the elusive, touch-sensitive compression and saturation of the mythical Dumble Overdrive Special — the amp that defined the tones of Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, and John Mayer — and Hermida's original hand-built units are widely considered the closest any pedal has come to that sound. Vol, Gain, Tone, and Voice controls give you an enormous range from glassy, clean-pushed transparency to singing, harmonically rich overdrive that blooms and breathes with every nuance of your playing. This example is in excellent condition — a genuine piece of boutique pedal history, signed and dated by the man who built it.
