1984 Manuel Contreras concert classical guitar.  This "Doble tapa"-model was built at the summit of his oeuvre, 10 years before the passing of this important maker of the school of Madrid. It features a set of stunning and tightly grained Brazilian Rosewood back and sides (CITES included) paired to a western red Cedar top. The Double Top design adds a layer of Cedar on the rosewood back in order to add projection and volume. The sound character is warm and rich, yet clear as a bell. Other features include a cedar neck, ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, beautiful wooden marquetry surrounding the top, soundhole and on the bridge, and gold 3-on-a-plate tuners. Condition is excellent with some light expected playwear, signs of use and one repaired crack on the top. The instrument travels in a hardshell case with CITES documents.
