Egildo Emanuele (1866-1955) was a highly talented Italian luthier, probably trained under Luigi Embergher, an emblematic figure of Roman lutherie.

Unlike his presumed master, Emanuele developed most of his career in France in the early years of the XXᵉ century, after probable training in Rome.

This singular trajectory earned him the nickname, quite rightly, “the French Embergher”.

Between 1899 and the late 1940s, Emanuele demonstrated a perfect mastery of Embergher's own principles of construction and acoustic research.

He was not content to copy: although inspired by the master's models, he developed a personal approach, marked by a strong identity and a desire to offer instruments that were both accessible and of the highest quality.

Rather than multiplying the number of models, he chose to concentrate on a more limited range, notably around the concert mandolin, which he built with care and exacting standards.

This magnificent concert mandolin, numbered 299 and made by Egildo Emanuele in 1912, is offered for sale today.

In excellent condition and perfectly functional, it offers an exceptional sound that will delight musicians and passionate collectors alike.
