Efficient recording and control

The Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 4th Gen USB audio interface offers a comprehensive set of features for project or home studios requiring versatile recording options. With a total of 18 inputs and 20 outputs, including eight 4th-generation microphone preamps with 69 dB of gain, it is ideally suited for recording microphones and instruments. The preamps are remotely controllable and enable the precise capture of even dynamic performances.

The integrated Auto-Gain and Clip-Safe functions handle automatic level control and protect against clipping, making the recording process more efficient. The redesigned Air mode gives recordings a distinctive presence and harmonic drive, emulating the sound of classic studio consoles.

The Scarlett 18i20 offers low latency via direct routing and six internal mixers, as well as precise 24-bit/192 kHz conversion with a dynamic range of 120 dB, based on the technology found in Focusrite’s RedNet products. The Focusrite Control 2 software allows you to efficiently control the routing, level settings, monitor mixes and other functions of the Scarlett 18i20. In addition to the desktop version, the Focusrite Control 2 app is available for iOS and Android, allowing you to adjust monitor mixes and microphone preamp settings on the go, without needing a computer.

Furthermore, the interface features an A/B speaker switch, switchable 48V phantom power and a built-in talkback microphone, making it ideal for complex studio set-ups. The dynamic level meter provides immediate visual feedback on input and output levels. Two specially developed headphone amplifiers ensure high-quality monitoring, even with high-impedance headphones.

To facilitate convenient rack mounting of this unit, 18i20 rack mounting ears and matching screws are included.

What can be connected?

The Scarlett 18i20 offers a wide range of connection options, enabling flexible use in the studio. On the front panel, there are two XLR/jack combo sockets that can accept microphones as well as instruments or line signals. On the rear panel, there are a further eight XLR/jack combo sockets and 6.35mm jack sockets, supplemented by MIDI inputs and outputs for the seamless integration of MIDI devices. Furthermore, ADAT and S/PDIF connections offer extended digital connectivity options for modern studios.

Plenty of software

The package also includes various software bundles, including Ableton Live Lite and a three-month subscription to Pro Tools Artist, complemented by a wide range of instruments, effects and processors. The Easy Start Tool makes setting up and getting the Scarlett 18i20 up and running quick and easy, so you can start producing straight away.

Additional software to get you started straight away

So that you can start letting your creativity run wild straight after unpacking and plugging in, you’ll receive Ableton Live Lite – a popular DAW for all kinds of music production – for free! Recording, mixing and editing tools will help you achieve your musical goals!

But that’s not all: benefit from a three-month Splice membership to gain access to hundreds of sounds.

To give you a taste of another DAW, Focusrite includes the Intro+ version of Avid Pro Tools so you can produce hits with that too; this version never expires and remains in your arsenal.

The software package is rounded off by the Hitmaker Expansion, which features Antares Auto-Tune Access, a Softube modelling amp, the popular Massive synth from Native Instruments, the Klevgrand Essentials package featuring an intelligent compressor ( Korvpressor ) and ReAmp (an amp and tape simulation), and much more!
