For sale this Protec V1542 microphone distributor in 19" format. Identical to the Neumann V442, possibly made under license definitely a clone. This is in essence a 5 x XLR input mic/line splitting unit that splits the signal to 4 identical signals from each of the 5 inputs to XLR outputs (20 outputs in total). The cool part is that it has juicy preamps for each mic input that give fixed 18dB gain (ideal for ribbons before your preamp or replacement for inline FET boosters). The line inputs have no gain and are fixed to 0dB gain. You can switch each input between mic or line signal and feed your mic 48v phantom power switchable on each channel. The distribution of the signals is fully balanced with 5 input transformers and 5 x 4 output transformers for each individual XLR output. Sound wise it adds that lovely analog sound to your signal, I think these sound fantastic. For what it does and how comprehensive these are designed they are a total bargain and underappreciated. The more you think about this one the more you realise that it is a fantastic studio tool. Excellent addition for your recording rig. This unit has been tested and it fully functional, please note that it runs on 220v only. The condition is good but it does have some signs of life on the road, the chassis has a few dings and dents and one screw in the back is missing.
